Like many folks, you may be looking for a change in venue from IOS.   It looks like Google with their unique Android platform and combined with LG’s solid devices have made this alternative.  With all the large number of devices out there this one gives the options of a smart phone at a much smarter price.  With the holidays right around the corner saving a few dollars while not skimping on the features is a value that one can just not miss out on.  You may want to consider a Nexus 5 in your stocking!

The key with the Nexus 5 is the minimal design…and the price!  It is a sleek phone with a matte backing that makes it easy to grip and its rounded back makes it easy to pick up on a flat surface.  The headset measures 5.43 inches tall, 2.72 inches wide, and .34 inches thick, while weighing in at only 4.59 ounces.  The Nexus 5 sports a 4.95 inch Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display which the resolution is 1920c1080 pixel and 445ppi. The powerful process behind the phone is a 2.26 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which compared to phones like the Galaxy s4 and HTC One run Snapdragon 600 processors.  The onboard RAM is 2GB which is a great way to support the OS Android 4.4 KitKat.

Although this phone is on my list, the onboard memory is left to be desired. Both 16GB and 32 GB options is set and there is no SD card slot.  It also sports a 8-megapixel camera…sigh.  The Nexus 5 features a small gyroscope in the lens for increased image stabilization many of the tests out there state that even in a well light room photos were still a bit blurry.

Santa will have several carriers to pick this phone up from, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint, sorry Verizon customers.  It will also be the first in the Nexus 5 line that will natively support LTE data.  The most alluring aspect of this device is that it will be the first device that will come preloaded with the new Andriod 4.4 KitKat.  Google has packed KitKat full of great features while making it smaller than Jelly Bean with a total 512MB memory profile.

Some of the key features include an intuitive dialer, which allows you to search for a business number in the dialer itself.  Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this includes business numbers that are not in your personal contacts.  It all boasts of an improved Google voice search and Google Now that will help keep you updated on your favorite TV shows, as well as, summaries of many of your preferred topics.

There you have it… the Nexus 5 is a great option for the holidays with a wonderful screen, LTE 800 processor and the latest OS.  The biggest draw…drum roll, please…the savings! You will really get a great bang for your buck with this sleek phone. Cha ching! At just under $400 The Nexus 5 make a great gift for someone or yourself…at this price, you can throw in a few accessories!
